This will be the first time NBC has taped the show from their NBC/NY studios since March  2020 after the pandemic became wide-spread. “Saturday Night Live” is produced in association with Broadway Video. The New York Times  recently caught up with the show’s Executive Producer, Lorne Michaels, as he reflected on returning to the NBC Studios during this COVID-19 pandemic: “Things have changed. There’s heat sensors at the revolving doors and then you go for your rapid [Covid] test. You wait 15 minutes and then you’re in the building. The Monday night meetings in my office on the 17th floor, which once had 40 people, now has a capacity of three. It’s me plus two. In the same way that we tried to figure out the at-home shows, we’ve had to rethink every part of the show.” Says Michaels.

With this being an election year, other season highlights for upcoming episodes of SNL will include Jim Carrey performing as Presidential candidate Joe Biden and Maya Rudolph as Kamala HarrisAlec Baldwin has also been confirmed to reprise his role as President Donald Trump.
