The British Academy of Film and Television Arts Los Angeles recently announced that Matt Damon will be the recipient of the Stanley Kubrick Britannia Award for Excellence in Film at this year’s ceremony.
“Matt Damon is undoubtedly one of the most talented and respected actors working in film today,” said BAFTA Los Angeles chairman Kieran Breen. “Having made a remarkable impact at a young age with ‘Good Will Hunting,’ he has developed a phenomenal career — combining both big-budget studio movies and acclaimed independent films. As a favorite of some of the top contemporary directors in our industry, it seems particularly fitting that we are honoring his career with an award bearing the name of the legendary Stanley Kubrick.”
It makes perfect sense for BAFTA to present Damon with a well-deserved award — the Stanley Kubrick Britannia Award for Excellence in Film — at the Britannia Awards October 27 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. After all, he won an Oscar in 1997 with buddy Ben Affleck for writing “Good Will Hunting,” and was nominated for his performances in that movie as well as “Invictus” and “The Martian”.

In the near future, it looks like Matt Damon’s next movie Charlatan, will take aim at a tale about a snake oil salesman who fakes a cure for male impotence. Based on the 2008 book Charlatan: America’s Most Dangerous Huckster, the Man Who Pursued Him, and the Age of Flimflam by Pope Brock, Charlatan will center its story on Matt Damon’s John R. Brinkley — a doctor who achieved massive success in the early 1900s by hocking a fake cure for impotence. What was Brinkley’s remedy for this ailment? He would surgically implant goat testicles inside the bodies of willing men. Yes, it’s bizarre, so this movie should be just as interesting.
Behind the production of this new movie, Damon has teamed up with some very talented partners. The screenplay will be adapted by the writing team of Brian Koppelman and David Levien (“Ocean’s Thirteen,” Showtime’s “Billions”). The film also marks another collaboration for Damon as a producer with Kimberly Steward, who worked together behind-the-camera on the Oscar-winning drama “Manchester by the Sea”.
With his recently release projects including: The Martian and The Great Wall, as well as his return to the Bourne franchise with Jason Bourne, the actor has recently debuted the films “Suburbicon” and “Downsizing” at recent Venice, Toronto and Zurick film festivals and these films are currently in theatres.
The AMD Britannia Awards are BAFTA Los Angeles’ highest accolades, recognizing British and international talent. Damon joins this year’s previously announced honorees Dick Van Dyke, Ava DuVernay, Claire Foy and Kenneth Branagh. The awards will be handed out October 27 at the Beverly Hilton.

Here comes… BOSS BABY
April 1, 2017 in ANIMATION, MOVIES & FILM
When their newborn Boss Baby (Alec Baldwin) arrives in the Templeton household wearing a business suit and attracting all the attention of the parents, his 7 year older brother, Tim (now a formerly only child) (Miles Christopher Bakshi & Tobey Maguire), is not too happy with the situation.
Older Brother Tim, (Miles Christopher Bakshi)
and Boss Baby (Alec Baldwin) must join forces.
DreamWorks has created this wildly imaginative animated full-length feature Directed by: Tom McGrath (Megamind, Madagascar) and written by: Michael McCullers (Austin Powers, Mr. Peabody) based on the award-winning original picture-book story that was created by: Marla Frazee.
The Parents are voiced by: Jimmy Kimmel & Lisa Kudrow
Yes, this is a most unusually “bossy” baby who wants and demands attention in a hilarious movie about how a new baby’s arrival impacts a family. The story is told from the point of view of the delightfully unreliable narrator, the older brother, Tim, with a sly, heart-filled message about the importance of family.
Boss Baby himself is on a mission to find out why he and other babies are losing out on their share of parental love. Unwillingly, Boss Baby and big brother, Tim, manage to join forces to stop a conspiracy in which puppies would get all the attention leaving children with no love.
The Boss Baby is an authentic and broadly appealing original comedy for all ages. Although your kids may not get some of the grown-up references, they will totally enjoy the film while adults have fun too.

CHIPS Hits The Big Screen
March 24, 2017 in MOVIES & FILM, NEWS
Dax Shepard (Hit & Run, TV’s Parenthood) and Michael Peña (Ant-Man) star in the action comedy CHIPS. The inexperienced rookie and the hardened pro are teamed together, but clash more than click, so kick-starting a real partnership is easier said than done.
Jon Baker (Shepard) and Frank Ponch Poncherello (Peña) have just joined the California Highway Patrol (CHP) in Los Angeles, but for very different reasons. Baker is a beaten-up former pro motorbiker trying to put his life and marriage back together. Poncherello is a cocky undercover Federal agent investigating a multi-million dollar heist that may be an inside job—inside the CHP.
With Baker’s unique bike skills and Ponch’s street savvy (the new partnership) might just work…if they don’t drive each other crazy first.
CHIPS also stars Rosa Salazar (Insurgent), Adam Brody (Think Like a Man Too), Kristen Bell (Bad Moms), and Vincent D’Onofrio (Jurassic World).
Dax Shepard Directs and stars in CHIPS (2017)
The film was produced by Andrew Panay (Earth to Echo, Wedding Crashers), who previously produced Shepard’s Hit & Run, and Ravi Mehta (Get Hard), and is based on the popular television series.
Collaborating behind the scenes with Director, Dax Shepard were Director of Photography, Mitchell Amundsen (Ride Along 2), Production Designer, Maher Ahmad (Hangover 3), Editor, Dan Lebental (Ant-Man), Costume Designer, Diane Crooke (TV’s – Parenthood) and Composer, Fil Eisler (Empire).
