Taylor Tomlinson New NETFLIX Special will Have You Rolling!
March 9, 2022 in COMEDY CLUBS, NEWS
Taylor Tomlinson may not quite be a household name just yet, but keep your eyes peeled for this rising bright star. Making us laugh with her second Netflix stand-up comedy special Look at You, Tomlinson explores herself as well as breakups, therapy, sex, death and mental health in the witty way only she can do.
Getting her start at the young age of 16, Tomlinson spent many years performing on the church stand-up circuit before moving on to less tamed ground at comedy clubs. Eventually landing herself a slot on Last Comic Standing, she also appeared on TV series and specials: New Couple Gets Quarantined (2020), Quarter-Life Crisis (2020- her first Netflix special) and The Comedy Lineup (2018).
In Look at You, Tomlinson gets the chance to further explore her “other-self”, and her experience with mental-health, therapy and prescribed medication – noting how it has changed her outlook life. Loosing her mother to cancer at an early age she is even able to joke about death. “Do you think I’d be this successful at my age if I had a live mom?” pausing, she gives the audience a scolding stare, “She’s in Heaven. I’m on Netflix. It all worked out!”
This latest Netflix special for Tomlinson was shot on location at the Wilbur Theatre in Boston in December 2021 just before round two of the pandemic started, but you won’t hear much talk of Omicron or COVID, Just a whole lotta good comedy from this talented star. The special was directed by Kristian Mercado and Tomlinson wrote her own material as well as co-executive produced with Judi Marmel, and John Bravakis.

January 13, 2022 in NEWS
The Max Original docuseries, TAKE OUT WITH LISA LING, debuts with all six episodes THURSDAY, JANUARY 27 on HBO Max. When it comes to choosing where to eat out, Chinese, Indian, or Japanese food is as ubiquitous as pizza and burgers. These days, there are Asian restaurants in practically every mall food court and Main Street across the United States Yet, little is known about the diverse communities behind them. Asian Americans have long been lumped together, misunderstood, exoticized, and even purposefully cut out of our history books.
In TAKE OUT WITH LISA LING, award-winning journalist Lisa Ling — who’s own family story began in a Chinese restaurant — travels from the bayous of Louisiana to Orange County’s Little Saigon, exploring the foods we love while shining a long overdue spotlight on the contributions Asian Americans have been making to the United States since before the United States was even the United States.

CBS – GHOSTS
October 5, 2021 in TV/INTERNET
GHOSTS is a comedy about Samantha and Jay (Rose McIver & Utkarsh Ambudkar), a cheerful freelance journalist and up-and-coming chef from the city, respectively, who throw both caution and money to the wind when they decide to convert a huge rundown country estate they inherited into a bed & breakfast—only to find it’s inhabited by the many spirits of deceased residents who now call it home.
The departed souls are a close-knit, eclectic group that includes a saucy Prohibition-era lounge singer (Danielle Pinnock); a pompous 1700’s Militiaman (Brandon Scott Jones); a ‘60s hippie fond of hallucinogens (Sheila Carrasco); an overly upbeat ‘80s scout troop leader (Richie Moriarty); a cod-obsessed Viking explorer from 1009 (Devon Chandler Long); a slick ‘90s finance bro (Asher Grodman); a sarcastic and witty Native from the 1500s (Román Zaragoza); and a society woman and wife of an 1800’s robber baron who is Samantha’s ancestor (Rebecca Wisocky), to name a few. If the spirits were anxious about the commotion a renovation and B&B will create in their home, it’s nothing compared to when they realize Samantha is the first live person who can see and hear them.
The new series premieres Thursday, Oct. 7 on the CBS Television Network and available to stream live and on demand on the CBS app and Paramount.

RESPECT- Jennifer Hudson as Aretha Franklin – Big Screen Success!
August 14, 2021 in MOVIES & FILM, NEWS
Portraying Aretha Franklin, in RESPECT , Jennifer Hudson has set the stage for her next Oscar win. Not enough can be said of Hudson’s performance and haunting renditions of countless Franklin hit songs or her gut-wrenching acting technique as she takes us through Aretha’s life of heart-breaking love relationships, battles with depression, child abuse and alcohol addiction.
There was no “faking it” as RESPECT hit the big screen in this Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer / MGM production. Jennifer Hudson lights up the screen along with a cast of very talented real singers and actors including co-stars: Oscar Award-Winning actor, Forest Whitaker, Audra McDonald, Marlon Wayans, Marc Marrone, Tituss Burgess, and the very talented young phenom, Skye Dakota Turner who plays young Aretha Franklin.
In this latest biopic, Director, Liesl Tommy, along with writers Tracy Scott Wilson, and Callie Khouri, do an excellent job of bringing to life the legendary Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin’s life on film. Beginning in 1952, they transport us back to the early roots of Franklin’s beginnings as a child in the black gospel Baptist Church where we meet the young Franklin (Skye Dakota Turner) who lights up her father’s Saturday night parties as well as Sunday church congregation meetings with her singing.
It is during these early years, we get to see the beginnings of Franklin including her early life struggles through child abuse as well as family violence. We also get to meet other notable characters in her early life including Ted White her future to be abusive husband, convincingly and remarkably played by Marlon Wayans who miraculously transforms himself into the character laying down a performance definitely worthy of Best Supporting Actor consideration.
Other remarkable performances include: Marc Marrone who played record producer and executive Jerry Wexler as well as Titus Burgess as the Reverend, Dr. James Cleveland, Mary J. Blige who plays a powerful Dinah Washington, Audra McDowell as Barbara Franklin and Albert Jones as Ken Cunningham.
RESPECT is a movie definitely worth seeing. It is well-made film that will make for countless years of musical entertainment enjoyment for all. It is highly recommended by www. ComedyE.com

On March 25, HBO Max will premiere the new animated special THE RUNAWAY BUNNY, based on the children’s book by Margaret Wise Brown.
