HBO Max Greenlights HOMESCHOOL MUSICAL: CLASS OF 2020
May 29, 2020 in NEWS
Scripted Musical Special Features Students from Across the US, Whose Spring Musicals Were Cancelled Because of COVID-19, Performing Original Music from Their Homes in this First-of-Its-Kind Feel Good Pop-Cultural Event is Executive Produced by Tony Award Winner Laura Benanti, Emmy Award Winners World of Wonder, with Music by Golden Globe Nominated Composer Leland.
HBO Max, the direct-to-consumer offering from WarnerMedia announced the greenlight of Homeschool Musical: Class of 2020. Inspired by Tony Award winning actress Laura Benanti’s (“My Fair Lady” and “She Loves Me” on Broadway, Younger, Supergirl, Nashville) online movement #SunshineSongs, in which she offered to be an audience for the students around the country whose spring musicals were cancelled because of COVID-19, this television event will give students the opportunity to sing and dance like the stars they are, from the safety of their homes.
Homeschool Musical: Class of 2020 will explore tried-and-true themes of classic teen movies through the totally unique lens of a world turned upside down by the global pandemic. The cast, featuring a diverse group of super talented student actors with compelling backstories, will play seniors from the same high school and while the pandemic may have shut down their school, the drama and romantic intrigue live on.
“As a mom of teenagers, I know that this time has been a struggle for them. High School seniors in particular have been hit hard by this pandemic, their dreams of homecoming, prom, spring performances and even graduation being cancelled,” said Jennifer O’Connell, executive vice president original non-fiction and kids programming. “Laura’s brilliant idea to give these kids an audience and a platform has blossomed into this unique opportunity for us to not only celebrate their talent, but to entertain many other families across the country sharing their experience.”
“Our school shows are more than just entertainment. At the very least, they bring our communities together to revel in the talent of our young artists. At their best, they are a life changing experience that these kids will bring with them into the rest of their lives,” said Benanti. “I am thrilled that the #SunshineSongs initiative has put the spotlight on so many incredible young performers; grateful to World of Wonder for its grand vision and to HBO MAX for providing a global platform on which America’s youth can shine!”

LITTLE – Movie Seeks Big BoxOffice
March 21, 2019 in NEWS
Girls Trip’s Regina Hall and Black-ish’s Marsai Martin both star as Jordan Sanders — Hall as the take-no-prisoners tech mogul adult version of Jordan and Martin as the 13-year-old version of her who wakes up in her adult self’s penthouse just before a do-or-die presentation.
Insecure’s Issa Rae plays Jordan’s long-suffering assistant April, the only one in on the secret that her daily tormentor is now trapped in an awkward tween body just as everything is on the line. LITTLE is an irreverent new comedy about the price of success, the power of sisterhood and having a second chance to grow up — and glow up — right.
Will Packer, blockbuster producer of Girls Trip, the Ride Along franchise, and ten movies that have opened No. 1 at the U.S. box office, including Night School, No Good Deed and Think Like a Man, brings an all-new perspective to the body-swap comedy.
Directed by Tina Gordon (writer, Drumline) with a story by Tracy Oliver (Girls Trip) and a screenplay by Oliver and Gordon, based on an idea by teen actress Martin. The film is produced by Packer and his producing partner James Lopez and by Kenya Barris (Girls Trip, Black-ish), and is executive produced by Preston Holmes(Night School), Hall, Marsai Martin and Josh Martin.

Showtime/Netflix Star Lynne Koplitz Plays Treehouse Comedy
March 14, 2019 in NEWS
No-holds-barred comedian Lynne Koplitz will be performing at The Treehouse Comedy Club in Westport on Saturday March 30th, just one week after her new Showtime special, Funny Women Of A Certain Age, makes its debut on Showtime. A self-proclaimed lifelong bachelorette, Koplitz offers a woman’s take on being crazy, the benefits of childlessness, dieting, boyfriends and more. This unabashed menopausal New Yorker offers advice to men and comfort to women when dealing with hormones.
Having appeared on several television shows with the legendary Joan Rivers it only seems appropriate that Koplitz dedicated her 2017 Netflix Special Hormonal Beast To Rivers. Her most recent appearances include opening for Louie CK for the better part of 2017 and two shows at NYC’s Madison Square Garden. Koplitz also had the honor of opening for Chris Rock in 2018 and appearing in his hit movie, Top Five.
A native of New Yorker, Lynne decided to pursue a career in acting admittedly a bit late in life, at 28. “But, Jesus didn’t start until he was 33!” says Koplitz. Her break into show business came at the urging of a group of friends at a production company where she’d landed a job. They not only insisted that she go into standup comedy, but called around and found the first gig for her at an open-mic night.
Since then, Lynne’s TV credits have blossomed with appearances on Comedy Central Presents: Lynne Koplitz, Gays: The Series, “This Week At The Comedy Cellar, Last Comic Standing and Comedy Underground With Dave Attell.
Catch Lynne Koplitz along with comedians James Camacho and Tim McKeever at Treehouse Comedy.

CRASHING, which is now in it’s 3rd season on HBO, recently hosted CRASHING Live!, a night of stand-up at the New York’s Gramercy Theater to benefit the Ronald McDonald House of New York City.
Some of comedy’s biggest acts performed in the name of benefiting the charity which provides temporary lodging for families whose children are receiving local treatment for cancer. If you’re not familiar, the HBO series, Crashing, tells the story of Pete, a sheltered suburbanite who married his childhood sweetheart and dreams of making it as a stand-up comedian.
